Ms. Jones in the morning
I used to refuse to listen to hot97 in the morning. I hated listening to the queen of ignorance, Ms. Jones. However, for whatever reason, she has been missing in action. To my pleasant surprise the show has been bareable. I used to cringe whenever she opened her mouth to voice her opinion on a ropic that reached outside of music. Without her we have DJ Envy addressing current events and comedian Micheal Shawn giving comic relief. Even though his jokes can be crude, his remarks rarely break the ignorant barrier that Ms. Jones seems to be impervious to. When he doesn't have information on a subject he either keeps his mouth shut or makes it known that he is uninformed, whereas Ms. Jones weighs in with her opinion as if she is informed broadcaster. When will we realize that just because we have an opinion, doesn't mean we have to subject others to our ignorant mess?

I feel you. Opinions and assholes still go hand and hand. Everybody has them, but like you said just because we have them doesn't mean we should reveal them.

You know what I've found...? It's not only Hot 97 because the commentary on 98.7 Kiss has pissed me off on many occasion and it's usually the individual's in their morning shows. They are incredibly uninformed and it bothers me because they have an venue to reach multitudes of uninformed people. Then I run into these uninformed characters that quote verbatum things that they've heard from these people on the radio and I just cry out like Lawrence Fishburn in Skool Dayz "WAAAAAAAKKKKKKEEEEEEEEEEEEEE.........UUUUUUUUUPPPPPPPPPPPP!!!!!!" LMAO.

Man I cringe when I hear some of these jocks speak. My motto for radio is so simple...give me my music and shut the fuck up

i can't listening to anything in the morning other than the weather forecast, music, or very light and nice lil' shows... everything you're exposed to from 6 to 8 am affects your mood for the rest of the day... so DONT PLAY WITH THAT...
.. avoid ignorance.. lol

I think that we just have to remember that we live in a country that claims freedom of speech. This means that even ignorant people are allowed to say what they want and have venues to do so. I think it is sad because, as someone has already said, some people take it as "news" or "gospel" instead of seeking facts.

Power is still to the people tho. It won't be until the people as a single entity demand:
A) Accurate information
B) Unbiased Information
C) Quality Information
and stop listening to these shows that we will be free of misinformation. In all of it's forms. Everything from TV Commercials and Magazine ads that tell you that you are too fat, too sad, too happy and too mad to radio shows that give gossip as truth.

I hear you Jay...just give me my damn music! I really only listen to Steve Harvey in the mornings, but that's because he gives me comic relief.

Hot 97's morning shows, going back to Star and Buck Wild, were one of the main reasons why I stopped listening to that radio station all together. There seems to be a commonality of pervasively spewing ignorant comments that do nothing but deter our community from progress, yet everyone continues to allow it to happen because they're "funny". So why such an uproar over Don Imus?

I say if you have an opinion and you wanna voice it, GO AHEAD! Then on the other side, if your opinion is solely going against a multitude of people or is obviously absurd, then shut the fuck up!

I hope I didn't cause you much anguish by my "scrub" comment on your previous post. I haven't seen your comment on my recent post. From what you have said about yourself, I am sure your comment can't be much more truthful and honest than comments already rendered! Hope that job situation is working out better for you! Have a great day! :-)

You know it is just good listening to hear someone make stupid comments on things that they know nothing about.

I agree....If yo have an opinion, voice it. Hell, anything that sparks conversation is a good thing in my mine.

Ok, so I must confess, I love to debate. I even at times have felt like an ass when I may not have had enough information to come to a complete conclusion or theory. Yet, I feel that I am doing better.
Now that was "my confession". We all, at some point, are guilty of misinformation or defending a point with the lack of info or knowledge on a subject.
I can honestly say that I have not listened to Miss Jones enough, if at all to add my two cent in today. LOL.
Love the posts man. Keep 'em up!

She was kind of "forced" on NYC radio... I remember when she was only on late Sunday nights doing that countdown show (sounding like a Wendy clone.)
What you hear is the nonsense that got her kicked off the air in Philly, which you wont be subject to much longer... The same station that fired her here is doubling her salary to come back in December.
She'll be off Hot completely by June.
IMO: She is nowhere near as ignorant as Star & Buc.
